Salem pulled away from a 21-21 halftime tie to capture the Region IV Division 4 girls basketball title with the 45-38 win over Hidden Valley Friday night at Salem High School. The Spartans advanced to the state quarterfinals at the Salem Civic Center this Saturday where they will play E.C. Glass.

Hidden Valley, also moves on to play Turner Ashby at JMU Saturday evening.

Salem came through with the key plays in the second half as Hidden Valley couldn’t overcome a cold shooting night in which they hit under 28% from the field.
