Long-time Woods Rogers’ attorney Nick Conte will join Carilion Clinic’s legal team as General Counsel and Senior Vice President in March.

“We conducted a professional search with dozens of highly qualified national candidates and found Nick to be the clear choice.” said Nancy Howell Agee, Carilion Clinic President and CEO. “His genuine community spirit combined with his legal expertise make him a wonderful addition to Carilion’s leadership team.”

Conte currently serves as the chairman of Woods Rogers, Western Virginia’s largest law firm with offices in Roanoke, Richmond, Charlottesville and Danville. Throughout his career, Nick has counseled many of the regions’ largest companies in general corporate matters, advised boards of directors and executive teams and served as outside general counsel and corporate secretary. As Nick transitions from private practice he will initially continue as Of Counsel with Woods Rogers and maintain his role as active community leader.

“I’m excited about this next stage in my career, and I’m thrilled to continue to serve the communities I’ve come to love over the past three decades,” said Conte. “Carilion is a driving force in this region and throughout Virginia and with that comes tremendous responsibility. I look forward to helping the organization navigate the health care industry’s twists and turns and continue to maintain its role as a strong community partner.”

Conte is a board member of Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Carilion Clinic Foundation, and is active on the boards of many other community resources including the Roanoke Symphony, the Roanoke-Blacksburg Technology Council, United Way of Roanoke Valley and the Taubman Museum of Art.
