Wild Bill’s Sports Roundup

Bill TurnerThere’s little doubt one sign of a high-heeled newspaper is one that has a restaurant critic.

So, I’m proposing to The Chief that I brush up on my culinary skills, reviewing techniques and my impeccable French to bring that glory to The Star. No doubt The Chief will want to tag along with his entourage since this gig usually means some free food.

I’m hoping to pattern my critic’s skills after noted English reviewer Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, whose show “Cook on the Wild Side” seems to mesh with this column. It’s also important to note that Fearnley-Whittingstall is one great food critic who looks amazingly like The Chief.

Now, we just need to hand out some blue-ribbon awards to the top eateries in the area. Hopefully, they’ll be lining up for a review.

In the meantime, I’m ready for our grand entrance to the maitre d’: “Le Chef veut une table pres de la fenetre (The Chief wants a table by the window) or “Ces cuilleres sont sales” (Those spoons look dirty). I say steak and lobster for all.

Now, to girls and boys basketball awards where a large number of our “Big-11” players garnered post-season recognition. Here’s the list furnished through the end of March.
