Woodson Honda was recently recognized by both the City of Roanoke Police Department and the Western Virginia Foundation for the Arts and Sciences (Center in the Square) for their support in two influential community programs.

Deputy Chief Tim Jones presented Sally Woodson, Dealer and Greg Shortridge, General Manager with an award for their generous contribution of two Honda CRVs to assist in crime prevention and community policing.  Jones also acknowledged the help Woodson Honda has provided through the years to the department.

“We need to do what we can to support the men and women on the front lines,” said Woodson.  “These officers are out there every day and night making our community better and we are so proud of our association with them.  It’s one of the best investments we can make as a dealership.”

In addition, Woodson Honda announced a 10 year arrangement to support the Western Virginia Foundation for the Arts and Sciences (Center in the Square) by sponsoring the exterior staircase (6th and 7th floors) in the newly renovated Center in the Square building.  Since the reopening of Center in the Square, the exterior staircase on the roof of the new building has proven to be one of the most popular places to view the area’s beautiful vistas.

“By supporting our renovation they are proving their commitment to education, conservation and improving the quality of life for so many in our area,” Jim Sears, President and General Manager said.  “It’s such a beautiful place and we’re excited to have Woodson Honda as a part of the Center in the Square.

“I wanted a good way to support the work being done downtown and to recognize my father and grandfather,” said Woodson.  “That’s why we worked out the arrangement we did with Center in the Square.  We’re proud to be a part of such an impressive structure and can’t wait for even more people to enjoy all it has to offer.”

A family owned and operated company, Woodson is one of the oldest automotive dealerships in the Valley having served the Roanoke Valley since 1937. It is also the oldest Honda dealership east of the Mississippi, picking up the Franchise in 1972.
