The Taubman Museum of Art has announced that former First Lady Laura Bush will be the keynote speaker at its largest fund-raising luncheon of the year.

Mrs. Bush will speak Nov. 12 at the Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center to accommodate an expected sold-out audience.

“We are delighted to welcome someone of international acclaim to help us celebrate the fifth anniversary of our museum,” said museum executive director Della Watkins. “This event, open to anyone in the community, is part of our growing mission to be a place where ideas, art and conversation intersect to build a vibrant community.”

The event benefits the museum’s educational programs. It begins with a reception at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 12 followed by the program from 12:30-2 p.m.

The ninth annual luncheon also will honor Nancy Howell Agee, President and CEO of Carilion Clinic. She will receive the Ann Fralin Award for her community leadership and support of the arts.
