Dinosaurs Return to Science Museum On January 12

The program lets people touch real dinosaur fossils

Dinosaurs will be the focus of a one-hour, hands-on Second Saturday Science program at the Science Museum on Jan. 12, 2013.

“Return of the Dinosaurs,” presented by Science Museum executive director Jim Rollings, offers people the chance to see and touch actual dinosaur fossils — even a dinosaur egg — while learning about these incredible creatures that once dominated the earth.

“Whether it’s the child in your family, or the child in you, dinosaurs never fail to fascinate,” says Rollings. “I’m looking forward to sharing my dinosaur fossil collection, including some new additions since our last program.”

“Dinosaurs” launched Second Saturday Science in early 2012 and remains the most popular program. “Return of the Dinosaurs” offers a new opportunity for those who missed the first show while featuring new information for return visitors.

While Center in the Square completes its $27 million renovation, the Science Museum is relocated on the second floor of Tanglewood Mall across from Belk. Seating for the program starts at 10:30 a.m. The hour-long presentation begins at 11 a.m.
