Celtic Cross Dedicated at Roanoke Catholic

Catholic (800x402)On April 24, 2016 the Fr. John Lynch Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and Roanoke Catholic School dedicated a Celtic Cross on the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising in Dublin, Ireland on the campus of Roanoke Catholic School.  The event featured a short history of the Rising and the significance of the Celtic Cross.

Surrounded by Division members are, seated from left to right, Patrick Patterson, Principal of Roanoke Catholic School and Division member, David Bowers, Mayor of Roanoke and Division member, Fr. Mark White, Pastor of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, and Bill Howard, President of the Fr. Lynch Division.

The inscription on the Cross reads “In solidarity with all who struggle for religious freedom, we dedicate this Celtic Cross on this the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising in Dublin, Ireland.”
