DICK BAYNTON: What A Difference A Day Makes

During the early morning hours of November 9, 2016, tears were moistening the eyes and rolling down the cheeks of the backers of one candidate while the jowls of those in the other camp were puffy with smiles of joy. Sometime after 2 AM Wednesday following Election Day, media reports showed that Mr. Trump had probably won the race for U.S. President according to the count of the Electoral College.

Both candidates were conciliatory in their winning and losing comments. The President spoke on Wednesday morning inviting Mr. Trump to the White House on Thursday, November 10th. He pledged his support for the President-elect and mentioned that Mr. Trump would be able to carry on the improvements that he (Obama) has made in the nation’s well being since he took office eight years ago.

Mr. Obama must have forgotten about the nearly $20 trillion national debt, the Iran nuclear deal, the Chinese military build-up in the South China Sea, the wars with ISIS, the 94 million workers no longer seeking employment and the 40+ million receiving food stamps. The race was close but the result showed that voters thought the nation was moving in the wrong direction(s).

With this titanic shift from liberal to conservative leadership for our nation, we can perhaps restore law and order, implement sensible immigration policies and reduce the multitude of rules and regulations to reasonable guidelines. Maybe some of the political correctness of verbal and written discourse of the past can be discarded in the bag marked ‘ridiculous’ and reappear with reasonable and civil straightforward communications.

Hillary was committed to continuing Obama’s failed policies. Mr. Obama got things screwed up pretty bad in his first four years; he was given a second chance. It was during the second four-year term that we found his goals (Hope & Change) were not our dreams of prosperity and freedom but nightmares of ideologies as perceived by his liberal progressive extreme left agenda.

Celebrated agenda items include the reverie of climate change, peace as portrayed by CAIR, the exorbitant overreach of public bathroom identification, the eminence of members of LGBT, the tolerance of Black Lives Matter, the Occupy Groups and other extremists. These individuals, groups and organizations are legal and tolerable but must we elevate their status of legal existence above all other critical domestic and international issues?

Mr. Obama’s ‘signature legacy achievement,’ the Affordable Care Act has become a dismal failure. We were treated to the President’s student loan program that has turned out to be a ‘go to college and whether or not you graduate, taxpayers will pick up your multi-billion dollar tab.’

When the subject of national debt comes up the President and his liberal cohorts remain silent. When Iran violates the nuclear weapons deal of July 2015, the administration remains silent. When Russia drops bombs on our friends the Syrian rebels, Secretary of State scolds President Putin publicly; Putin smirks. The IRS is caught cheating but the President says there was not a smidgeon of evidence.

A few days after election results were posted, there have been mob eruptions in New York, Portland, OR and other locations. In Chicago, TV photos showed a man being pulled from his car and beaten as wild screams reverberated, “He voted for Trump!” Had Mrs. Clinton won and a hooligan attacked a Hillary voter, the awesome power of government would be unleashed. What we are experiencing is the result of the current administration allowing looters (after-hours shopping) and mobs to carry out their evil acts without comment or recrimination.

Where are Black leaders like Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson, former Attorney General Eric Holder, present Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Jesse Jackson or Reverend Al Sharpton? Why weren’t the calming voices of our President and Vice President heard when these mob outbursts occurred? Is it possible that these mob scenes were created by anonymous opposition sycophants? Consider several decades ago when the gallant Martin Luther King, Jr. demanded peaceful demonstrations.

Only a few months ago Democrats were predicting the utter defeat of the disconcerted Republicans. But when the corrupt Democratic candidate and the misguided machinations of the Democrat Party became clear, voters spoke with clarity.
