The Art of Architecture

CaptureRoanoke’s Center in the Square represents the very heart of “The Arts” in Roanoke, hosting a variety of museums, exhibits and educational programs. So it’s appropriate that at the very heart of the building itself patrons find an artistically “aortic-like” stairwell that runs from top to bottom serving all 7 levels. In the above picture local photographer Mark Morrow beautifully captures the variety of lines, shapes, textures and colors of the building’s design, as well as the subtle interplay of shadows and light throughout the entirety of the shot. One might say the perfectly formed helix at the very heart of the heart of Roanoke’s Arts community says a lot about our “artistic DNA” as a community. We have a great many people to thank for that . . . but that’s another story for another day.
