From Top Mountain Town designation to USA Today’s 10 Best Bike Cities, the Roanoke Region continues to be recognized for its outdoor brand development.

National sock manufacturer Farm to Feet has partnered with the Roanoke Regional Partnership’s Roanoke Outside Foundation on the development of their newest sock named “The Roanoke.”

The Roanoke will be the official sock of the Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Marathon – America’s Toughest Road Marathon. Participants of the marathon will receive a pair of the socks, which are part of Farm to Feet’s new Blue Ridge Series of running socks made in the U.S. from merino wool and featuring their new “Friction-Free” technology.

“Farm to Feet wanted to name its new Adventure Run socks after communities known for their outdoors,” said Farm to Feet’s Dave Petri. “Roanoke made perfect sense. Situated along the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway, Roanoke is nationally recognized as a premiere outdoor hub. Farm to Feet socks are American made and the Blue Ridge Marathon is America’s Toughest Road Marathon …the partnership is a perfect fit.”

“Our outdoor story is now part of our community narrative” said Pete Eshelman, director of outdoor branding for the Roanoke Regional Partnership, “and it’s exciting to see the creative ways that our outdoor brand development is paying off.”

The Roanoke sock packaging, available February 2015, will profile both the Blue Ridge Marathon and Roanoke Outside. Tell your favorite outdoor retailer you want them to carry the Roanoke!
