Last Thursday Roanoke had a very special guest in town to help kickoff Subway Commonwealth Games of Virginia, Jared Fogle, also known as the Subway guy. He visited the Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Virginia to discuss the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle and the difference it can make.
The kids were inspired hearing Jared speak about how he lost over 200 pounds by eating Subway sandwiches for a year. Roanoke City Mayor David Bowers presented Jared with a gold star in recognition of his appearance. The boys and girls were treated to lunch provided by Subway, and they played a health and fitness quiz with the Virginia Amateur Sports interns and won certificates and prizes. At the end of the program all in attendance received an autograph from Jared.
