Roanoke Star contributing photographer Terri Aldhizer captured this remarkable image recently as the “Snow Moon” began its long ascent in the night sky above Roanoke next to the spire of Greene Memorial Methodist Church.
The church, which was founded in 1859, sits across the street from the former Commonwealth Building in downtown Roanoke. (Caddy-corner across from the Noel C Taylor Municipal Building.)
