Richfield Living Breaks Ground in Roanoke County to Expand Independent Living / Build New Skilled Nursing Facility

Richfield Living, a not-for-profit retirement community and local leader in senior living and rehabilitation, held their Groundbreaking Ceremony, May 1, 2019 at 10am to announce expansion of their senior living community on the Salem Campus with other notices regarding their model of care.

Richfield Living will build 140 new Independent Living Apartments and Villas, a new 25,000 square foot Town Center with dining, spa, wellness, and chapel with community center. In addition, a new skilled nursing facility will be completed before demolishing the existing 50-year-old building.  This rightsizing of the campus changes the face and footprint. Completion is expected within the next two to three years.

“We are very excited to support the growth of Richfield Living as they move into a new era of retirement living,” states Martha Hooker, Vice Chair of Roanoke County Board of Supervisors.

Remarks from officials from the company, Roanoke County, City of Salem, and a resident from the community were made during the ceremony. New artist renderings were revealed at the ceremony to show the new buildings and the change from a bird’s eye view of the campus. A large crowd of nearly 400 team members, board members, residents, local officials from Roanoke County and City of Salem, and community partners supported the event.  Facebook Live was broadcast to residents in their rooms and in the lobbies of the other buildings.
