Salem-Roanoke County Chamber Of Commerce Names New Executive Director

Michelle Darby

The Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce has named Michelle Darby as its new executive director. The Salem native started work this week as the organization’s new executive leader.

Darby will focus on growing the Chamber’s membership base by showcasing its value through strategic and meaningful educational and networking opportunities.

“The Chamber’s Board of Directors is extremely pleased to make this announcement,” said 2019 Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce President Toni McLawhorn. “Michelle knows the Roanoke region well, and we are confident in her ability to not only engage our current members, but also grow the organization through her energy, enthusiasm for the area, and understanding of what it takes to run a successful business.”

Prior to joining the Chamber, Darby worked for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield where she led the Federal Employee Program Field Service and Marketing team across a 14 state territory. Darby’s strengths include marketing, strategic business development and relationship building. “I look forward to partnering with and supporting area businesses to further their success,” said Darby.

Born and raised in Salem, Virginia, Darby earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Communication at Roanoke College and Master of Liberal Arts in Sociology at Hollins University.
