Rescue Mission Drumstick DASH Drew 11,000 Plus for Holiday Run

They came in everything from tutus and tailfeathers to spandex and sequins. The 13th annual Union Bank and Trust Drumstick DASH 5K drew 11,200 participants to Downtown Roanoke on Thanksgiving morning and netted $275,800 to support the Food Services Budget at the Roanoke Rescue Mission.

“God has truly blessed this event and it is such a treasured tradition now for so many families,” says Race Director Uneita Mathews. “We’re grateful they share their Thanksgiving morning with us year after year. They run, walk, push their strollers and walk their dogs to help feed people who are homeless and hungry.”

This year’s DASH welcomed participants from 38 states, Washington, D.C., and Canada. Others registered to “dash away” in 11 states and from as far away as Thailand.
