DICK BAYNTON: Does Liberalism Equal Anarchy?

Dick Baynton

In case you haven’t read or heard about it many of the streets of San Francisco are strewn with human waste, dirty injection needles, tarp-tents and other make-shift ‘domiciles.’ As we all have read over the past several years, Kate Steinle was killed on July 1st, 2015 by an errant bullet from the gun of an illegal immigrant who had been deported five times prior to the shooting. A San Francisco court acquitted the shooter of murder, involuntary manslaughter and assault with a deadly weapon in December 2017. Local police had failed to turn the illegal immigrant over to federal authorities prior to this deadly incident.

San Francisco is a ‘sanctuary city’ that provides protection for illegal aliens and allows homeless, drunks and ‘drifters’ to inhabit parks, streets, alleys and sidewalks without restriction. When a jurisdiction claims sanctuary status, it means public property is dedicated to the policy of anyone doing what they care to do to vandalize, disfigure and blemish property owned by taxpayers. It is apparent that these cesspools of temporary habitation may cause the spread of disease and discourage commercial activity including tourism.

A Bay Area research project found that there were about 7,500 homeless people in the area and in a 150-block-area hundreds of mounds of human waste and used injection needles were observed. The Director of Public Works says the work of cleanup is challenging; additional maintenance costs are estimated to be about $13 million annually. An infectious disease expert says the city is as filthy as some of the world’s worst slums. The new Democratic Mayor of San Francisco is London Breed.

Just 2,100 miles east of San Francisco is the City of Chicago, captained by Democratic Mayor Rahm Emanuel where sanctuary status also reigns supreme. In 2017, there were 625 people killed and 2,936 wounded; in 2018 through the middle of May, 281 humans have been slaughtered and 1,467 injured. In addition, there were 166 car hijackings in 2017 and 79 through May of this year; more than 50% of these hijackings were committed by juveniles. Chicago’s retirement pension account is underfunded by about $11 billion; the city’s population shrunk by 13,000 in 2017.

Our nation is undergoing constant debate about sanctuary jurisdictions; entire states like California are a reflection of far left rationalization. The concept of ‘open borders’ implies that people are considered ‘citizens of the world’ in spite of the reality and pride of ‘sovereignty’. The conservative view is that everyone in the world can be considered for U.S. citizenship as long as they enter legally, speak our language and respect our culture and its symbols of the flag, our laws and participate in economic, cultural, educational and financial opportunities.

A recent case of anarchy occurred just a few days ago in Portland, Oregon when Democratic Mayor and Police Commissioner Ted Wheeler ignored ICE officers surrounded by 200 protesters at the field office of the U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement. When ICE officers requested assistance from local police, Deputy Chief of Police replied, “At this time, I am denying your request for additional resources.” The ICE officers were evacuated by a few other federal officers. Protesters stopped traffic near a hospital by lying down in the street; local police did not intervene.

Zephyr Teachout, a Democratic candidate for Attorney General of the State of New York and professor at Fordham University in NYC has mentioned that if elected, she would try to abolish ICE which she believes is a ‘tool of cruelty, unconstitutional behavior and illegality.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who recently beat Democratic incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley in a New York primary runoff endorses the abolition of ICE and the institution of free college for everyone.

Michael Moore recently urged fellow liberals to ‘rise up and put your bodies on the line’ against our Commander-in Chief. Do you suppose he meant the bodies of people like James Hodgkinson who was killed by police after shooting Steve Scalise (R-LA) on June 14th, 2017 in Alexandria, VA? When a person mentions putting bodies on the line, that person usually means violence.

Democratics seem to have slipped into the abyss of ‘anarchy’ where social rules mandate that laws are optional, national borders are imaginary and any vestige of security by police is unnecessary.
