Governor’s School Announces Award Winners at Regional Science and Engineering Fair

On Saturday, March 17, over 100 gifted and talented students from the school districts of Roanoke City and Roanoke County, plus the Roanoke Valley Governor’s School, competed in the 2018 Western Virginia Regional Science and Engineering Fair at Virginia Western Community College. The following students received first place awards in their categories at the regional fair:

All first place award winners advance to the state competition and will next compete at the Virginia Science and Engineering Fair on April 14 at the Berglund Special Events Center in Roanoke.

As the two Grand Award Winners of the regional fair, juniors Logan Dunkenberger and Carly Smith will automatically advance to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Pittsburgh in May. They will spend a week competing at the international fair, and all of their expenses will be paid by the regional fair. Congratulations, everyone!
