The Roanoke/Blacksburg Regional Airport Commission has announced that Uber has signed an operating agreement with the airport that is in compliance with all commonwealth and local ordinances.

The agreement with Uber is effective December 2, 2016. “I am excited to finally have an operating agreement in place between the Roanoke/Blacksburg Regional Airport and Uber,” said Airport Executive Director Tim Bradshaw, A.A.E. “This agreement provides our customers more choices to and from the airport while establishing an operating framework that meets the needs of Uber, our existing ground transportation providers and the airport. We know that this is a service passengers have wanted and are pleased to have the agreement in place.”

Effective immediately, residents and visitors of Virginia’s Blue Ridge can use the Uber app to request a ride to and from the Roanoke/Blacksburg Regional Airport. RBRAC officials have been working for months to find a solution to allow the ride service company
to operate at the airport in a way that works within the airport’s regulatory infrastructure and the company’s business model.
