Miss Virginia USA 2017 Crowned at Moss Center

On Sunday, November 20, 2016, the finals competition was held for the 2017 MISS VIRGINIA USA and MISS VIRGINIA TEEN USA State Pageants at the Moss Arts Center in Blacksburg.

Jacqueline Carroll was crowned Miss Virginia USA 2017. Miss Carroll is a West Virginia University Graduate where she obtained her A.B.A in Phycology and a minor in Biology, while also playing collegiate volleyball for WVU. She will be starting her masters from George Washington University in Forensic Phycology this January. Miss Carroll will be competing in the nationally televised MISS USA pageant.

Madison Walker, from Virginia Beach was crowned Miss Virginia Teen USA 2017.  Miss Walker is 16 and goes to Cox High School. Miss Walker will be competing in the national MISS TEEN USA pageant this summer.

Coach Frank Beamer chose to be in attendance of the 2017 Miss Virginia USA pageant  instead of attending the VA TECH vs. Notre Dame football game, was a special guest and assisted in the crowning.

After an impressive opening number that featured all 45 contestants, the competition was narrowed to the semi-finalists in both the MISS and TEEN divisions.  After responses were given for onstage questions the winners were announced.

The top honors for MISS VIRGINIA USA 201:

4th Runner Up: Riley Copans of Central Virginia

3rd Runner Up: Malissa Sibly of Hampton Roads

2nd Runner Up: Jamie Hughes of Chesapeake

1st Runner Up: Caelynn Miller-Keys of Richmond

The top honors for MISS VIRGINIA TEEN USA 2017:

3rd Runner Up (TIE): Kaitlyn Shaw of Roanoke & Brittany Trump of Hampton Roads

2nd Runner Up: Monica Osborne of Independence

1st Runner Up:  Morgan Duty of Lebanon

Miss Virginia Teen USA 2017, Madison Walker of, Virginia Beach

The MISS VIRGINIA USA and MISS VIRGINIA TEEN USA organization raised a total of  $14,280 for various charities. A Champion for a Cause Award went to the contestant that raised the most amount of money for her chosen charity. Madison Walker of Virginia Beach, VA won and received a cash prize and a foursome of golf at The Virginian Golf club.

 Miss Virginia USA and Miss Virginia Teen USA 2017 won scholarships from Emory & Henry College, King University, the University of Virginia College at Wise, Lindenwood University, Hollins University and Liberty University.
