DICK BAYNTON: Unaccountability Propagates Corruption

Most of us believe that the Grand Canyon is the biggest chasm in the United States. Here’s a surprise; there is a yawning gap even bigger. It is the gap between personal and corporate accountability versus government accountability. The Grand Canyon was carved by wind and water over thousands of years. The awesome gap of government unaccountability was carved out by arrogance over 240 years.

Only a few days ago, John Stumpf, Wells Fargo CEO, was invited by Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren to resign his post, return all earnings during the period of ethics and legal violations and be criminally investigated.

Wow, that’s quite an order from a former Harvard Professor who gained prominence by receiving college funding by posing as a Native American from Oklahoma. Someone has dubbed Warren as Fauxcohantas to reflect her charade.

Although we all should have noticed by now, there is this vast chasm of difference between the arrogance of government and its lack of accountability and the accountability and the fines, fees and punishments meted out to corporations and taxpayers.

The IRS scandal of 2013 featured conservative tax-free organizations being impeded in their conservative activities by IRS supervisor Lois Lerner. It was proven that large numbers of conservative organizations were affected, but no punishments were levied on individuals. Lerner is now retired with a fat retirement allocation credited monthly to her bank account.

In the above case, 292 applications involving names like Tea Party, Patriot or 9/12 were delayed for processing in accordance with a BOLO memorandum that meant, “Be on the lookout for.” The delays caused the organizations to shrink activities greatly that helped Obama get elected in 2013.

In an interview with Bill O’Reilly, Obama stated categorically that there was not a “smidgeon” of evidence of wrongdoing. He also commented after evidence was discovered and promised that people would be held accountable. The reality? No one suffered demotion, loss of job or disciplinary action of any kind.

Remember the uproar at the VA Administration of 2014? Veterans died waiting for appointments and treatment, fallacious reports were filed and a new Secretary of Veteran’s Affairs was brought in to replace retired General Shinseki.

Robert Mac Donald, a West Point graduate and former CEO at Proctor & Gamble, was hired to rebuild the VA organization for efficient handling of veteran’s affairs. During an interview with Meet the Press on February 15, 2015, he stated that 60 people had lost their jobs due to the extended wait times. A few days later he corrected himself and mentioned that just eight people had lost their jobs. Although we can’t be sure, the odds are that these eight people probably retired with full benefits.

Among the most egregious cases of forsaking responsibility and accountability is the sordid story of the candidate for President of the United States (POTUS): Mrs. William Jefferson Clinton (Hillary Rodham).

Although the electorate has been treated to a litany of tales of scandal, both former President Clinton and Mrs. Clinton continue to glow in the well-lit offices, halls and ballrooms of the politically elite.

Several scandals are being talked about and verbally litigated in political circles, the most outrageous violation being the ongoing E-Mail corruption event. FBI Director Comey has lectured us on the lack of intent by Mrs. Clinton and her flock of lackeys regarding security but the explanations don’t stand up to scrutiny. In fact, the venerable FBI has been infected with the vicarious ability to create conclusions from incomplete interrogations and a patchwork of evidence from fuzzy assumptions.

According to Andrew C. McCarthy, a former Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York recently wrote an article for the National Review outlining the why Mrs. Clinton has not been indicted regarding her carelessness with confidential E-Mails and her personal server.

It turns out that some E-Mails have turned up that implicate our President (using a code name) who may have had confidential communications with Secretary Clinton on her unsafe personal server. This means that in order for Mrs. Clinton to be indicted, our President would suffer the same fate.

Our once-great nation has descended into the chasm of corruption without accountability.
