Roanoke’s Raleigh Court Branch Library has re-opened to the public after a year-long renovation.
Mayor David Bowers, Libraries Director Sheila Umberger, and children of all ages cut a ribbon to signify the completion of work.
“The newly renovated Raleigh Court Branch is a vibrant, light-filled, expanded 11,000 square-foot space full of opportunities,” said Umberger. “After numerous community meetings, I’m proud to say that we have included everything that the community said they wanted in this library. This branch is a strong community library and destination for everyone.”
The $3.9 million project includes a new children’s area, study and meeting rooms, quiet room with a fireplace, self-checkout options, $100,000 worth of new books and materials, 40 new computers, café vending space, drive-through book return, and inner courtyard.
There’s also a new dedicated teen area that features computers, workspace, and music recording room with cutting-edge technology.
