Tom Cox, “Roanoke’s classic car guy” and co-founder of Star City Motor Madness – Roanoke’s signature summer celebration of all things automotive and cruising, will star in The Appraisers, an automotive reality series premiering on Discovery’s Velocity Channel on Saturday, December 5 at 8 pm and 11 pm.
The eight-episode season follows Cox and his team of automotive appraisers as they cruise across America in search of rare and interesting automotive finds.
The Appraisers covers it all — antiques, classics, muscle, luxury and exotic cars, old trucks, motorcycles and automotive memorabilia. Each episode introduces viewers to passionate characters who make up the auto enthusiast world. The excitement builds as Cox and his appraisers reveal how much each owner’s pride and joy is worth.
Cox, president of National Optical in Roanoke and a long-time executive board member at the Virginia Museum of Transportation, serves as the show’s Classic Car Guy and brings an extensive automotive resume to The Appraisers.
He co-founded the Virginia Association of Car Councils, serves on the board of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) and Antique Automobile Club of America Museum in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Cox is also a Senior Master Judge and Member of the AACA National Awards Judging Team.
Cox will be joined on screen by Chris Ritter, the Car Geek, and Ben Nef, the Vegas High Roller. Together, the team presents expert analysis on fast and expensive classic cars — from original muscle cars to upscale rests-modes to big-ticket exotics.

Discovery’s Velocity Channel will air eight 30-minute on Saturday evenings at 8 pm and 11 pm (EST) from December 5 to January 23.
