Hunting Hills won its third straight Roanoke Valley Aquatic Association City-County swim meet Saturday afternoon at the Salem Family YMCA.
Salem’s Stonegate Swim Club finished a close-second, coming up only 713 points shy of Hunting Hills’ 18,570.5 point total.
This year’s championship was Hunting Hills’ 12th, attributed in part to the large participation at the Southwest County club. This year, Hunting Hills had 131 swimmers hitting the pool in Salem.
The annual two-day season ending event for the RVAA saw over 960 swimmers from 14 local clubs compete. Swimmers ranged in age from the 6-and-under category to those over 70.
Finishing in order behind Hunting Hills and Stonegate were Read Mountain, Forest Hills, Our Lady of Nazareth, Spring Run, Olympic Park, Ashley Plantation, Elks Lodge, Castle Rock, Hidden Valley, Roanoke Country Club, Vinton Swim Teams and Limestone Park.
A number of meet records were set this year, most coming in the older age groups in women’s and men’s categories. They included:
