Candy Cane Express Returns to Virginia Museum of Transportation

The Virginia Museum of Transportation has announced that the annual Candy Cane Express will take place on Saturday, December 6, from 10 am to 5 pm and on Sunday, December 7, from 1 pm to 5 pm. The day includes train rides, Santa, crafts and holiday fun designed for the whole family.

The Museum is planning a wide range of events that will make the day fun for the whole family:

  • Take a ride in a vintage caboose or passenger car.  The Roanoke Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society will operate the Candy Cane Express.
  • On Saturday, enjoy a special presentation of favorite holiday stories by the Roanoke County Library Children’s Library and author-in-residence Aubrey Wiley and Evvy the Elf.Throughout the weekend, hear stories about life in the North Pole by Evvy the Elf!
  • Bring a camera and take a picture with Santa! (Just in time for holiday cards.)
  • Children are invited to decorate an ornament for their holiday tree.
  • There will also be Model train displays.
