Faith Christian School, a JK-grade twelve Christian classical school in Roanoke County, has announced the appointment of its new Head of School, Peter G. Baur. Peter and his wife Lois hail from Memphis, TN where he has served for twelve years at Westminster Academy. Peter will be joining the Faith Christian School community on Monday, August 25th .

Peter, who holds a B.A. in Business and Economics from Wittenberg University, has been professionally involved in the field of independent school education for over thirty years. His tenure has been marked by firsthand experience in nearly every aspect of kindergarten through grade twelve private schools including admissions, college guidance, development, community service, capital campaigns, conferences, strategic planning, major events, marketing and public relations, camp director, teaching, and coaching.

For over thirty-five years, Peter has “enjoyed the privilege of working for many fine schools and [is] humbled at the prospect of working for yet another. It was after twenty years in the profession that I was introduced to Classical Christian education and my paradigm for true education was turned upside down… or rather, right side up. That introduction led to continuous amazement as I have witnessed firsthand the power of this method to form the hearts, minds and souls of students to love the things that God loves and to prepare them to excel in nearly every endeavor. While the latest “innovation” in education fails yet again to reach its promise to ‘revolutionize’ the ability of students to succeed and achieve, a proven method of educating students that spans over 1,500 years is being recovered and for the past thirty years has once again proven its ability to produce thoughtful, articulate, engaging students who are prepared not to just survive culture but to influence it toward Kingdom ends. “

Board chair, Keith McCurdy shares, “This has been an exciting process, and Peter’s experience, passion for Classical Education, and love for the Lord will inspire our community.”
