Three members of the Hidden Valley baseball team were named to the 2014 Group 3A First-Team All-State baseball team announced Wednesday morning by the Virginia High School League. Named to the 14-player team were Titan seniors Ben Schmidt, selected in the designated hitter position, and Hayes Nelson as an all-state outfielder. Joining those two was Hidden Valley sophomore catcher Matt Utermark, one of only two sophomores to make the team. The three helped Hidden Valley and head coach Jason Taylor have its best baseball record in school history before bowing out in regional play in a loss to powerhouse Turner Ashby.
