Ferrum Partners With FloydFest to Offer “Learn & Lodge” Packages

Visitors can learn about the region’s musical heritage plus enjoy comfortable lodging on campus just down the ˜Crooked Road” from the famous festival.

Ferrum College sponsors the popular Workshop Stage where up-and-coming musicians can be heard throughout the Festival, as well as established musicians playing in a more intimate setting.

A hot shower and a comfortable bed will be welcomed after a long day spent enjoying this summer’s FloydFest on July 23 – 27, 2014. Festival-goers who book one of Ferrum College’s FloydFestPLUS! Learn & Lodge packages will have both.

The College has partnered again this year with the popular festival to offer visitors the opportunity to learn about the region’s Blue Ridge musical heritage and lodge in a comfortable room with a private bath, plus tickets and daily shuttle service to and from one of the premier music and arts festivals in the country.

“After visiting the lodging available at Ferrum, I highly recommend staying there. You get a clean room with a private bathroom and shower – that is huge after a day at a festival. Not to mention that there is a shuttle service that takes you to and from the festival.  It is a great deal, “said FloydFest Partnerships & Marketing Director Brandi Gray.

In addition to the Learn & Lodge packages, Ferrum College’s partnership with Floydfest includes sponsorship of the popular Workshop Porch stage where up-and-coming musicians can be heard throughout the Festival, as well as established musicians playing in a more intimate setting.

Visitors will have the opportunity to scale the climbing wall courtesy of Ferrum Outdoors, the College’s outdoor recreation program; and to learn about the many activities and programs offered by the Ferrum College Office of Sustainability.

Through museum tours available during their stay at the College, FloydFestPLUS! patrons will also have the opportunity to learn about the authentic bluegrass, country, folk, blues and rock-a-billy rhythms that have inspired musicians, writers and filmmakers for over a century at the College’s Blue Ridge Institute & Museum, Virginia’s official state repository of all things “Blue Ridge.”
