Kimoyo Cup 2014 Comes to Roanoke

PrintThe Roanoke Star Soccer Club is welcoming 96 teams from 4 states to the 5th Annual Kimoyo Cup Tournament on May 3rd and 4th. There will be over 1500 players and 4000 visitors to the valley this weekend.

This is a tournament for a great cause. The tournament helps to provide gently used soccer equipment such as uniforms, socks, cleats, etc. to children in Africa who can really use them.

The mission of Kimoyo, LTD. is to create an appreciation by individuals in the Roanoke Valley of cultural diversity through after school educational programs and to establish international partnerships for self-empowerment that address health and economic issues. Kimoyo LTD. is a corporation founded in 1998. It grew from a faith-based partnership formed between two Roanoke churches – St. John’s Episcopal Church and Kingdom Life Ministries, International.

Spectators and teams who are participating are encouraged to donate any and all gently used soccer equipment. A large bin or bins will be available the days of the tournament near the fields for donations or you may drop off any items you wish to donate, prior to the tournament, at The Soccer Stop: 536 McClanahan St SW, Roanoke, VA 24014.

The Kimoyo foundation will hand deliver the equipment to children all over Africa. Thank you for being a part of this and for making a difference in the lives of children in Africa.
