Wild Bill’s Sports Roundup!

Well, I knew it might come to this.

Admittedly, I’ve only been invited to The Chief’s penthouse suite at corporate headquarters a couple times. But, in those visits I picked up on the fact that The Chief is a cat lover. (Chief’s note: there are three – count ’em, three – wild inaccuracies in this statement. Can you find them all?)

So, it’s no wonder that this week’s late-night product review will hit a home run. And, knowing The Chief, he might even consider some of the accessories. Read on for more information.

It’s regional high school basketball tournament time and this year’s new format had the number of ” Big-11 ” teams still in the hunt reduced in dramatic fashion.

Here’s a look at who’s left in both the boys and girls sides at press time, heading to Wednesday night’s games.

BOYS:

Group 6A South: Patrick Henry takes on Colonial Forge in a semifinal match-up in Richmond Wednesday night. PH takes a 14 game winning streak against once-beaten CF.

Group 3A West: A double header Wednesday night for two ” Big-11 ” teams at Rustburg High School. In the opener at 6:00 p.m. “Big-11” #1 Lord Botetourt takes its 22-2 record against Heritage-Lynchburg. The nightcap features upstart Cave Spring against the 27-0 Trailblazers from Spotswood. An all “Big-11” final could be in the making for Friday.

VIS Division III State Tournament: North Cross entertains the winner of the Broadwater Academy – Southampton Academy match-up Wednesday night. The winner of that contest advances to the state semifinals Friday at noon on the hardwood at Virginia State University in Petersburg.

 GIRLS:

Group 4A North: The Lady Colonels of William Fleming travel to Chancellor for a semifinal matchup Wednesday night.

In local VACA state action the Roanoke Valley Christian boys knocked off the Turtles of Stuart Hall Monday to advance to Friday’s semifinal at Ridgeway Christian-Stuarts Draft.

Now, there’s no better time to attack this edition’s late-night product review. I bring you the incomparable ” CityKitty. “

This gadget claims to gradually transition your cat to using the toilet. Oh, brother.

A training insert that features five perforated removable rings to provide the transition, the theory here is that the rings are removed one-by-one over time until your cat gets comfortable and their paws are positioned on the original seat. We see a tabby seemingly annoyed that it’s being photographed while sitting on the commode. Hard not to agree with him on that.

It’s the accessories that get you on this one: $ 7.99 for the seat-luring treats and a whopping $ 189.00 for the automatic flusher. (I swear I am not making this up.) I assume it’s only a matter of time before a magazine rack and sudoku book for cats hit the market.

I’m rating ” CityKitty ” NEUTRAL at this point. You get positives for convenience and savings on cat litter. But, I’m not thrilled over the idea of standing in line behind my two cats with my Star crossword puzzle in hand.

Plus, you’re in for a big headache if your Siamese gets distracted on the “CityKitty ” by a previously purchased “Perfect Polly.”

Until next time, please don’t squeeze the Charmin, but do send your comments to [email protected]. Meow.
