I would like to thank Mark Wood and family for their donation of the three wreaths for the Veterans War Memorial at Church and Second Streets. The Wood family sells produce at the City Market and their business is located in front of the old location of the Turner Drug store.
The organizers of the Veteran’s day Parade did an outstanding job this year; however, I have a suggestion for them to consider in 2014. It wold be nice of the parade route could pass by the War Memorial, during which time the bands would fall silent, and all participants render a hand salute. That would pay great honor and respect to our fallen comrades, and would be a way of saying “Thank You” for the freedoms we enjoy today.
