Roanoke Troupe Takes First Place on World Stage

The Southwest Virginia Ballet went to Prague in July to participate in the New Prague Dance Festival (along with groups representing 14 other countries)  They participated in a week full of master classes with teachers from all over the world during the day and performed each night.  Roanoke’s very own ballet won nothing less than First Place in Classical Dance, (Grishko Award 1.000.Eur), Molly Cook won first place “Dance Flower Bud” (talent) and Pedro Szalay won 3rd place “Pedagogy of Dance.” Artistic Director Pedro Szalay (center) is pictured above in Prague with his winning dancers.
