The best of the Historic City Market will now be available at Riverside Sports Complex. Roanoke’s City Market vendors are taking it to the river on Thursday nights from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., beginning July 18 and running through  Aug. 29.

Tracie Hughes, DRI’s Roanoke City Market manager said, “We’re delighted to offer an extra occasion for people to come out and enjoy the market offerings. We encourage everyone to make it a destination on Thursday night when it comes to grocery shopping for the weekend.”

The City Market will continue to operate downtown during the day seven days a week. This new market will give folks who are pressed for time on the weekends an opportunity to stop by on their way home and pick up fresh fruits, produce, meat, eggs, and even homemade jams—all from local farms. The market will be located on Reserve Avenue at the Riverside Sports Complex, which offers free parking in its adjacent lot.

Hughes added, “We’ll have different food trucks each week that will provide freshly prepared meals that you can purchase and eat right there at a picnic table.” DRI will publish a list of the food trucks that will be featured at each Thursday’s market on its web site and on its Facebook page.

Local radio stations will provide music every Thursday during the market and DRI will provide giveaways, including City Market items, coupons and tickets to DRI sponsored events.

City Market at the River also participates in the SNAP/EBT program—just as the one found at the downtown City Market. For every SNAP dollar spent, the Market will match with one SNAP Two For One token, up to ten dollars.
