Roanoke Singer/Songwriter Ben Bullington on East Coast Tour

Artist to play in Roanoke at 7:30 PM on April 28 at Mill Mountain Theatre

BB Front Cover SmallSongwriter Ben Bullington who now lives in Livingston Montana will be touring the East Coast  in support of “Lazy Moon,” his fourth CD of original songs.

Until recently a family doctor in Big Timber, Montana, Bullington is known for his thoughtful songs and intricate stories.  He will be making a stop in Roanoke as part of the tour on April 28 at Mill Mountain Theatre.  Showtime is 7:30 PM.

Bullington’s CDs have received extensive radio play through the  US, Canada, Europe and New Zealand, and accolades from songwriters and performers including Greg Brown, Storyhill, J.D. Souther and Mary Chapin Carpenter.

His “White Sulphur Springs” CD featured a duet with songwriting legend Rodney Crowell, who also produced two tracks on Bullington’s “Satisfaction Garage” CD. Other guest artists on his projects have included Tracy Nelson, Michael Johnson, Will Kimbrough and Bill Payne.

Rodney Crowell writes, “Ben Bullington’s work draws life-breath from the earth, rivers, sky and people of Montana. In the same way Guy Clark’s jeweler’s vision captures the eloquent essence of Texas culture without being regional, Ben frames the stillness of Montana winters, the strength of her women and the spiritual bankruptcy of no-account politicians with disarming ease. Plus, the guy’s a pretty damn good doctor for a songwriter.”

2012 found Bullington’s original tunes reaching a larger audience with performances at the Red Ants Pants Music Festival and tours in the Northwest, Colorado, Upper Midwest and Chicago. At a very special December show at Nashville’s historic Station Inn, Bullington traded songs with Crowell, Darrell Scott and the Americana visionary Will Kimbrough.

In 2013, Ben opened a show in Bozeman, MT for John Mayer and Zac Brown – a benefit for the first responders of a local fire.  The new year brought shows in California, performing at the prestigious 30A Songwriter Festival in Florida, and in Texas, where his first set prompted the Kerrville Folk Festival executive director to add Ben to the festival this year.

Bullington is touring Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina and Virginia in April and will return to Nashville for a CD release party for his most recent project in late May. The new self titled project was co-produced with Kimbrough, whose electric guitar artistry brings just the right atmosphere to Bullington’s vital songs of love, death and justice in the age of global warming.

Mary Chapin Carpenter appears as a guest vocalist and David Jacques adds bass to the project. Bullington adds, “Dave’s work is tasty as always and brings sweet movement. This one will be a little departure, but not a jolt.”

Why two CDs so close together? Dr. Bullington is now himself a patient, undergoing chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer. He’s had to give up his medical practice and plans to play as many shows for as many people as he can.  And, Bullington notes, if those shows are in warm places, all the better.  “I’m digging being a full time artist and plan to stretch it as long as I can.”

CDs are available at www.cdbaby.com, as well as Amazon, and ITunes or at www.benbullington.com. Details of shows can be found at www.reverbnation.com/benbullington.
