The Raiders traveled up the Shenandoah Valley Friday afternoon to take on  Massanutten Military in Woodstock.

The Raiders used a 13-run second inning on its way to a 24-1 blowout of Massanutten in a game shortened to five innings due to the 10-run slaughter rule.

Matt Doughty wielded the hot bat for North Cross, collecting five RBIs. Justin Jensen added 4 RBIs, with teammates Keith Oddo and Ben Coleman each knocking in three and Edwin Saunders plating two for the Raiders.

Doughty picked up the win on the mound for North Cross, as the righty yielded an unearned run and struck out six Massanutten batters.

Saturday afternoon, North Cross returned home to a wind-blown Porterfield Field to host the Dayspring Christian Lions.

The Raiders settled things early with a 10-run first inning on their way to a 24-4 victory in a game also held to five innings.

The game got off to a rocky start for Dayspring when the first three North Cross batters reached base after being hit by a pitch, loading the bases. After things settled down with the Lions pitching, the Raider bats heated up.

Matt Doughty had the key hit in the uprising with a 3-run homer deep over the scoreboard in center field. The next batter, Tanner McCoy, followed with a solo shot to the same part of the park, and the rout was on.

Saunders provided the big bat Saturday, knocking in six for North Cross. Oddo connected on a pair of triples good for 3 RBIs, while Jayson Lamanca likewise plated three Raiders runs.

North Cross improved to 4-3 on the season.
