Experienced veterans will trump rookie starters.

Such was the case Saturday afternoon in the baseball matinee at Cave Spring Field, as the Jefferson Forest Cavaliers dispatched the Knights 21-0 in a game shortened to five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Better days will be on the horizon for Cave Spring after their young team squared off against a Jefferson Forest squad that consisted of 17 juniors and seniors out of a 18-man roster.

The Cavaliers posted 5 runs in the first, led 9-0 after three and made things tough after six crossed the plate in both the fourth and fifth innings. Cave Spring managed its only hit of the game in the fourth on a Grant Snyder single.
