Roanoke Allstate Employee Named Volunteer of the Year

Employee recognized by insurer for positive impact in the Roanoke Valley
Allstate has announced Christine Remy of Roanoke, as Allstate’s Capital Region’s Outstanding Employee Volunteer for 2012. Selected out of 24 nominations, Remy was chosen for her efforts and commitment to the Refugee Center of Commonwealth Catholic Charities.
Remy has dedicated over 150 hours of volunteering by teaching English, basic life skills, and preparation for citizenship in the United States. Her passion to help these families start their new life here is inspiring. As a volunteer, Remy tutors older adults on English, American History and culture in preparation for the citizenship exam. “I am very honored to know these families. They are my neighbors in the Roanoke area, and my parents taught me to be good to your neighbors,” says Remy.
Allstate honors 15 employees every year with the Allstate Outstanding Employee Volunteer Award. The honor is open to all of Allstate’s more than 32,000 employees who truly embody the spirit of giving back to the communities in which they live and work.
“We want to highlight great stories of volunteer service like Remy’s,” said Debbie Pickford, Capital Region Field Corporate Relations Manager. “As a leading corporate citizen, we have a responsibility to give back to the community and help build a better society. We hope this award will inspire other Allstate employees to volunteer their time to help change lives for the better.”
As winner of the Capital award, Remy will receive a $1,000 check from Allstate Insurance for the Refugee Center of Commonwealth Catholic Charities. Remy will also be automatically considered for Allstate’s 2012 Volunteer of the Year award.

An Allstate employee since May of 2011, this outstanding volunteer is a member of one of our processing support teams. Remy is a graduate of the University of Phoenix.
