Sam Wright’s 1-yard touchdown run with 54 seconds remaining propelled Cave Spring to the come-from-behind 22-20 win over Pulaski County last Friday night at Dwight Bogle Stadium.

Pulaski County had taken a 20-16 lead with 8:43 left in the fourth quarter, before the Knights would go on a 61-yard, 13-play drive, for the clinching score.

Cave Spring was led by Wright’s 287 rushing yards on 40 carries to anchor the Knight attack. Wright became the all-time carreer rushing leader for Cave Spring, surpassing noted Cave Spring and NFL running back Tiki Barber. Wright, who also scored Cave Spring’s other two touchdowns on second quarter runs of 65 and 3 yards, now has 22 TDs on the season and over 3,750 total career rushing yards.

Cave Spring led 16-6 at the half, before Pulaski came roaring back on a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter, followed by a fourth quarter TD drive to take the lead.

Cave Spring improved to 5-2 (1-1, River Ridge).
