Select Group of VT Singers to Perform in Roanoke

Nine Virginia Tech students and their professors — Theodore Sipes, baritone and assistant professor of voice in the Department of and Ariana Wyatt, instructor in music — are going to be performing in Roanoke on June 25th at the farmers markets in Grandin Village at 1319 Grandin Road. The group is raising awareness of the Vocal Arts and Music Festival presented by the Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech as well as their own department.

“Performing in public is an important part of our students’ education,” said Sipes, who is co-directing these summer student performances with Wyatt. . . . We’re excited about the opportunity for the students to perform and to hear the great performances well.” All of the student singers are music majors.

The singers will also perform on Friday, June 24, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Ceritano’s Restorante at 428 North Main Street in Blacksburg. Then at 8 p.m., the group will proceed to Squires Recital Salon in Squires Student Center at Virginia Tech to attend the Vocal Arts and Music Festival’s Music of Mozart and Strauss.
