Broadway came to the Cave Spring softball field Tuesday afternoon with a billing of having a high-powered offense. The Lady Gobblers left little doubt that was quite accurate.

Broadway scored eleven runs in the first four innings to easily pull away for the 14-8 win in the Group AA state softball quarterfinal over Cave Spring, ending the Lady Knights season.

Broadway pounded out 14 hits including seven for extra bases. Tiffany Brown led the way with two home runs and a double.

After Broadway scored four times in the top of the first, Cave Spring came back with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the opening frame, mostly on aggressive baserunning that forced several Gobbler miscues. The Lady Knights, however, could not find the answer to stop the Broadway bats that eventually opened a 14-4 lead in the sixth. Cave Spring finished wih nine hits.
