Salem stopped Northside with a stellar goal-line stand late in the fourth quarter as the Spartans held on for the 17-13 win last Friday night before a standing-room-only Salem Stadium crowd estimated at 8,100.
Salem struck twice in the air in the second quarter to overcome the massive Northside line as the Spartans improved to 4-1. Northside (4-1) had numerous chances in the second half, but Salem shut down the Viking running game to secure the win.
