Officer Receives Lifesaving Award

Roanoke Police Officer N.D. Comas was awarded for intervening in a suicide attempt on April 24, 2010 when he leapt over a bridge railing and managed to grab a woman’s leg just as she was jumping.

“Her whole body was over the rail,” he said in an interview at the time.

Officer Comas was presented with a Lifesaving Award from the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police (VACP). The presentation was made by Roanoke Mayor David Bowers at the State of the City address held last week at the Sheraton Hotel.

Thank you for your heroic service Officer Comas!
