May is Neighborhood Month

Roanoke is a great city to live, work, plan and visit! Neighborhoods in all quadrants of the city have excellent housing stock with front porches, tree lined streets, and sidewalks. Village centers offer services that are accessible by walking and bicycling. Safe route to school programs encourage healthy communities. Neighborhood parks and Greenways provide outdoor amenities close to home.  Young families and senior citizens can enjoy an active lifestyle because of transit, trolley and trails.

Roanoke is a city of neighborhoods. 49 defined areas with 33 neighborhood organizations speak up for neighborhood concerns.. Florine Thornhill, neighborhood visionary, emphasized, You don’t need to move to live in a better place.  If you live in Roanoke I encourage you to help make a difference in your community.  If you live outside the city, come search out the hidden treasures found in our neighborhoods.
