Kennedy Center Program Manager to be Keynote Speaker

John Abodeely, Program Manager of National Partnerships in Education at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will serve as Keynote speaker for the Arts Institute for Educators. The Institute will take place on Saturday, March 6 from 9:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Virginia Tech’s Higher Education Center in Roanoke.

The registration fee is $20 and teachers may apply for up to six (6) CEU credits. The Arts Institute for Educators is presented by The Arts Council of the Blue Ridge and in partnership with Virginia Tech.

Abodeely leads the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network, a national network of state and national organizations that share a common goal – the advancement of arts education in communities across the country. He works with Kennedy Center teaching artists and staff to develop and disseminate seminars on arts integration, classroom practice, and teacher training.

The Arts Institute for Educators will provide all participants with hands-on workshops as they learn about arts education programs offered at Jefferson Center, Roanoke Symphony, Young Audiences, Southwest Virginia Ballet, Brass 5 and Roanoke Children’s Theatre.
