“TeamWork Media” Brings Fresh Energy to Roanoke Market

Bill Bratton

For years, Bill Bratton had the great opportunity of sharing time with thousands of radio listeners in the Roanoke market.  Then in March of ’89, the management team, of which he was a part at WFIR, decided to take their content to a different level.  At that time, Bratton held the positions of Program Director and Operations Manager and was charged with innovating “a whole new tier of programming.”

As he searched around the country for the “Cream of the Crop” in Talk Show hosts, Bratton ran across Lee Vanden-Handel, who was in charge of signing up affiliate stations for a fellow by the name of Rush Limbaugh – who boasted of “Having Talent on Loan from God.”  Bratton says “with those credentials, we felt like he had to be good!”

At that time, Rush was airing on about 88 stations around the country. In the process Vanden-Handel introduced Bratton to Bruce Marr in Reno, Nevada.  You may have heard Rush mention Bruce Marr in the earlier days of his program.  Bruce heard Rush on the air in Sacramento  and long story short, connected Rush with the right people, and the rest as they say is history. Bratton says that, “Bruce was a key Media Consultant who assisted me in building the talk programming on WFIR.”  The Wheeler Radio Group continues to build WFIR today as a powerful News/Talk source for the community.

In 2001, Bratton moved on to television media.  He started out as an Account Executive and was soon promoted to Local Sales Manager for a leading local company.  According to Bratton, “Our sales group had a great time as we worked together as a team, bringing new ideas, promotions and more to cable television and to our advertisers.  This was accomplished with a great deal of teamwork and positive energy.  Each day, we would share our successes, weaknesses, areas of improvement and ideas which would prove to be beneficial to our advertisers.  I realized then, that true Teamwork can be very powerful, and what is said or not said may actually affect someone’s life in a big way.  In short, nurture those you love to be the very best they can be – and always, ALWAYS be a good listener . . .”

In January of this year, Bratton decided to take his media experience and the idea of Teamwork to a new level with the launch of “TeamWork Media, LLC.”  Teamwork Media is a Media Consulting, Advertising Agency.  With this company, Bratton and his associates are teaming up to provide local businesses with new marketing ideas combined with traditional media.

“These are challenging times for local business owners,” says Bratton.  It’s tough enough to run your own business on a day-to-day basis, without having to deal with marketing your business. We have the market knowledge and depth of experience in all aspects of electronic and print media to craft the most effective and efficient marketing campaigns in Southwest VA. We’re looking forward to serving our clients with fresh, creative and energetic concepts.”
