Five Hidden Valley Youth Wrestlers attended the VAWA Folkstyle Elementary and Middle School State Championships at Arthur Ashe Center in Richmond, VA on February 25, 2012. Approximately 790 wrestlers participated in this event.
Chris Comer was the clubs highest finisher with a 4th place finish. Chris wrestled in the 48 lb K-2nd grade division with 26 wrestlers in this weight group alone. Chris had victories over wrestlers from Skyline 9-2, Powerhouse 8-5, Matpack 10-0, and Poquoson 3-0. Chris had a 4-1 loss from another Powerhouse opponent and then in the consolation finals he lost 6-1 against a Smackdown wrestler.
Ethan Leonard and Dylan Laprad also completed in the tournament but failed to medal.
Sam Comer wrestled in the 7-8th grade 75 lb weight class and placed 8th.
Kiel Cook also wrestled in the 7-8th grade division, but failed to medal. Congratulations to all of our wrestlers who participated in this event.
