As part of his campaigning for reelection in November 5th, Congressman Ben Cline (VA, 6th Dist), conducted a door knocking in the South East’s Roanoke City neighborhood on Monday evening. Congressman Cline was elected for the U.S House of Representative in 2019, after the retirement of Congressman Bob Goodlatte.

During the door knocking, Congressman Cline was accompanied by State Senator David Suetterlein and other volunteers and supporters. People in the neighborhood generally responded positively and welcomed Congressman Cline. Some advised that they had voted early and indeed had done so for Congressman Cline.

Congressman Cline has been known in the community for his engagement in many events and diligent work for the District. In contrast to many politicians, it was clear that this Congressman listens and understands people’s problems, and hence, find solutions.

Indeed, Congressman Cline has been working on many issues that are among Americans’ concern, such as economy and inflation, education and the recent delays with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and censorship of free speech. In fact, he played a leading role in Bill H.R 4791, which prohibits the Federal government’s employees and contractors from censoring free speech.

Congressman Cline understands that people’s rights and freedom of speech should not be interfered with by the government. Rather the U.S. Constitution gives the government limited authority over people, not ultimate power. Therefore, Congressman Cline is very driven in his desire to protect the First Amendment.

Being a part of the community is critical in understanding people’s struggle on a daily basis. Congressman Cline demonstrated that he is indeed such a person as he walked through the South East Roanoke neighborhood.

We need to send Congressman Cline back to Washington to continue to be the people’s voice and fight for their rights.
