
Cave Spring used a strong defensive effort along with clutch play down the stretch as the Knights defeated Salem 58-45 in the River Ridge District opener for both teams Tuesday night at Cave Spring.
Cave Spring (8-4) led 34-25 at the half, before Salem would cut the lead to four early in the fourth quarter. The Knights went on a late run to increase their lead to 15, and the Spartans (7-3) never recovered.
Amin Abuhawwas led Cave Spring with 19 points. Conner Baker had a career-high 17 for the Knights.
Alex Light paced Salem with a team-high 15 points. The 6’4″ sophomore also added 3 blocked shots and 6 rebounds for the Spartans.
