While millions of Christians around the world on Christmas Day joyfully celebrated Jesus’ birthday and remembered his love, compassion, and peace for human beings, conversely, the Russian regime sent a message of hate and aggression with a missile strike on Ukraine on Christmas Day that killed one person and injured several more.
The major intention of Russia is to destroy Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Evidently, Russian President Vladimir Putin vowed to completely dismantle Ukraine’s infrastructure and the power sites, which impacts the lives of thousands of people physically and psychologically.
The value of human beings has diminished in the era of war and destruction. President Putin’s illegitimate war against Ukraine surpassed the definition of a heinous and inhume action. According to statista, from February 2022 to October 2024, 12,162 civilians have been killed.
It is ironic, that while the major nations of the world say they are attempting to end the Ukraine-Russia war, they are continuing to fuel it by sending weapons and missiles which has not stopped Putin’s aggression. Every attempt has failed, and there is no sign that the war will end anytime soon.
The lives of innocent people are the price for such a war that ravages the country and affects the future generation and lasts for decades. Obviously, the Ukrainian people are living under Putin’s inhumane decision that pulled the citizens of Ukraine into an unwanted war.
Russian strategy in destroying Ukraine’s fuel and energy sector facilities has been well planned. Such an attack will have an immense impact on the civilians and disrupt people’s daily lives and routine while keeping government departments and the official facilities from their normal operations.
As I have lived in Iraq through wars and conflicts, I have a good understanding of their ultimate consequences, especially, attacks on the fuel and energy facilities that devastates people and completely undermines their lives. Impairing the energy sectors affects a large area in the country and a significant number of people. And this is what Russia is attempting to accomplish.
By raining down missiles on Ukraine, Russia has disregarded the meaning of Christmas and those who were embracing peace with the love of Jesus Christ. In fact, Putin’s decision in striking Ukraine’s energy facilities on Christmas revealed his abhorrence of innocent Ukrainians.
The U.S under Biden’s administration has not been able to push an effective policy and plan to end the Ukraine-Russian war, so many people are now waiting for President-Elect Donald Trump’s strategy to end the war. One of President-Elect Trump’s campaign promises is to end the wars of Ukraine-Russia and Israel-Gaza. In fact, his solid promise to stop these two wars was the reason that many groups and organizations endorsed him.
Trump has not reneged on his promise to end the Ukraine-Russia war. As he recently said that Putin is willing to meet with him, Trump also said, “So we have to wait for this, but we have to end that war. That war is horrible, horrible.”
As Biden’s Presidency is approaching its end, Trump is preparing to take over the oval office on January 20. It will be a critical time, as he inherits much chaos from President Biden, and all Americans should pray that he will put the U.S on the right path with credible leadership that will be respected and trusted by the world’s nations.
Obviously, between trust, uncertainty, and hope the world is watching President Trump for an action to end the Ukraine-Russia war.
