Local Eye Center Names New Chief Executive Officer

Herbert "Herby" Pierce
Vistar Eye Center has announce Herbert “Herby” Pierce as its new chief executive officer. He replaces former CEO Paul Levy, who retired in May after eight years with Vistar. Pierce was chosen to lead the eye care practice following a national search.
“We are thrilled to have Herby join the Vistar team,” said Jon Brisley, Vistar Eye Center’s Managing Partner. “His extensive experience in leading large progressive ophthalmology and optometric practices will serve him well as Vistar continues to grow and expand our services throughout southwestern Virginia. Herby, Paul, and the entire team have worked well together to ensure a seamless transition in leadership.”
Pierce is a Certified Ophthalmic Executive with a career in management spanning more than 20 years. Most recently, he served as chief executive officer for Bennett and Bloom Eye Centers in Louisville, Kentucky where he oversaw a referral-based practice with sixteen doctors, eight locations, and a dedicated surgery center. In Bristol, Tennessee, Pierce served as CEO of Blue Ridge Radiology. There, he supervised operations of a radiology group of 25 doctors and an imaging center. Pierce has also held positions in health agency administration and branch management. He is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Pierce will be responsible for the high-level strategic decisions directing the overall growth of Vistar’s main offices in Salem, Roanoke, Botetourt, Smith Mountain Lake, Martinsville, Rocky Mount, Blacksburg, and Wytheville, as well as satellite offices across the region.
