Roanoke Riverfest To Be Held June 29th

Celebrate the beauty of the Roanoke River with Clean Valley Council (CVC) during their Second Annual Clean Valley’s RiverFest: Recycle Regatta and Duck Race on June 29, 2019, from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. at Smith Park in Roanoke.

“This legacy fundraiser helps to support Clean Valley Council’s programs like stormwater education, litter prevention, and recycling throughout Southwest Virginia and beyond,” says Clean Valley Council Executive Director, Mary Ann Brenchick. “This year, Clean Valley’s RiverFest will be bigger and better than ever.”

The main attraction of the event is the always entertaining Recycle Regatta. Teams have been hard at work engineering recycled materials into boats that will race down the Roanoke River seeing which team’s creation is the fastest, most seaworthy, and most creative.

The day will also include the much-anticipated Duck Race where a flock of 10,000 rubber duckies will race down the river to the finish line awarding ten people cash prizes. Tickets are $2 Bucks a Duck at Center in the Square, Colab, other local businesses and online at www.cleanvalley.org. Proceeds from this event go to benefit CVC, Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics Area 8, SERCAP, REACH, RAYSAC, Apple Ridge Farm, and The Roanoke Community Garden Association.

In addition to the races, there will be fun, educational, and delicious things to do at Clean Valley’s RiverFest. The event will feature other local non-profit organizations, vendors, live music from the band GOTE, food trucks, workshops and a lot more. Of note, Deschutes Brewery will be there serving their signature brews. Plan to stay all day and enjoy Roanoke’s greatest asset – the outdoors!
